Rock for a Hero

When Charleston soldier Staff Sgt. Matthew Joseph Taylor was killed in Iraq on September 21 of this year, he left behind a wife and three little girls under the age of six. He enlisted the day after the 9/11 attacks and was just 61 days from completing his final tour of duty.

Charles Wyke-Smith of benefitfocus is organizing a concert to benefit Matt’s family that will take place on November 21 at the Music Farm in downtown Charleston. The show will feature Mark Bryan, guitarist of Hootie and the Blowfish, who will MC and play solo between performances by three local bands: The Plainfield Project, Mental Note (Charles is their guitarist and singer) and Henry’s Attic. The goal is to raise over $10,000.
